House of Lords awarded gold in inclusion rankings

Assessed by Inclusive Employers, the standard is an evidence-based, objective, accreditation tool looking at how equality, inclusion and diversity is embedded in the House of Lords.

The Lords is one of the first organisations in the UK to be recognised as gold, the highest possible grade.

The award comes after the Lords was the first organisation to receive silver status in last year's awards.

The House of Lords is committed to becoming an even more welcoming, inclusive and diverse organisation as set out in its action plan on inclusion and diversity, ‘Focus on Inclusion'.

Commenting, Ed Ollard, Clerk of the Parliaments, said:

'I am absolutely delighted that the House of Lords Administration  has achieved Gold in this year's National Inclusion Standard. This success is testament to the work of teams and individual colleagues across the Administration who continue to make inclusion an everyday priority. It's fantastic that this work has been recognised externally. Although there is always more we can do, this award reflects the progress we have made in making the Administration a welcoming and inclusive place to work.'

Members of the Lords Inclusion and Diversity team were presented with the award in a ceremony at the Young Vic theatre, London on Wednesday 25 September.

The National Inclusion Standard was launched in 2018 by workplace inclusion experts Inclusive Employers to support organisations to assess progress with their inclusion journey and award those meeting the National Inclusion Standard with accreditation.
