Lords debates five Northern Ireland reports

On Monday 9 September, members of the Lords, including a former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and a professor of Irish politics at Queen's University Belfast, debated five reports pursuant to sections of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2019.

During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.
The debates were proposed by Lord Duncan of Springbank (Conservative), parliamentary under-secretary in the Northern Ireland Office, who responded on behalf of the government.

Lord Caine (Conservative), former special advisor to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, made his maiden speech.
