Lords debates treatment of offenders

On Thursday 3 October, members of the House of Lords, including the president of the National Association of Care and Resettlement of Offenders and the chair of the Howard League Inquiry into Girls in Prison, debated the case for reforming the management and treatment of offenders in prison and the community.

This was a general debate. They normally take place on a Thursday in the chamber. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.
The debate was proposed by Lord Ramsbotham (Crossbench), president of Unlock, the National Association of Ex-Prisoners and former Chief Inspector of Prisons.
