Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Andrea Leadsom has given a statement in the House of Commons on the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York earlier this week.

The Summit took place on Monday 23 September 2019 at UN Headquarters in New York.

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Andrea Leadsom, told MPs,

"The UK [...] now has a unique opportunity to work with countries and businesses across the world, to build on the foundations laid at this week's summit, to drive this action agenda forward, and to turn the tide of emissions growth."

Responding on behalf of the Opposition, Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Barry Gardiner said,

"The issue of climate breakdown is much greater than the party political divides that afflict this parliament, and I do urge all Members of this House to find common ground in the pursuit of a healthy and stable climate."
