This week in the Commons, there were PMQS as well as urgent questions on airport expansion, breaches of the ministerial code, British citizens in foreign prisons and recent violence in India. There were three statements on Flybe, the coronavirus, and UK/US trade deal negotiating objectives.
Prime Minister's Questions
On Wednesday 4 March, MPs asked the about sick pay for victims of coronavirus, the bullying allegations levelled against the Home Secretary, policing and the peace process in Afghanistan.
Urgent Questions and Statements
There was three statements on:
- Liz Truss MP makes statement on UK/US trade deal negotiating objectives
- Health Secretary gives latest update on coronavirus
- Kelly Tolhurst updates MPs on Flybe's collapse
There were four urgent questions on:
- Jeremy Corbyn questions Prime Minister on recent apparent breaches of the ministerial code
- Urgent question on airport expansion
- Tulip Siddiq MP asks urgent question on British citizens in foreign prisons and Coronavirus
- Khalid Mahmood questions ministers on recent violence in India
Legislation
- Medicines and Medical Devices Bill 2019-21. This Bill was passed at Second Reading on Monday 2 March 2020 and has now been referred to a Public Bill Committee which will scrutinise the Bill line by line and is expected to report to the House by Thursday 23 April 2020
- Prisoners (Disclosure of Information About Victims) Bill 2019-21.
First reading took place on 3 March. This stage is a formality that signals the start of the Bill's journey through the Lords.
Second reading - the general debate on all aspects of the Bill - is yet to be scheduled.
Opposition Day debates
Opposition Day debates on flooding and health inequalities was led by the Labour Party.
