Coming up in the Commons: 23-27 November

We’ve put together a list of highlights to keep you on top of the legislation, debates and questions coming up this week that you need to know about.

Monday

The House will sit from 2.30pm on Monday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Education.

This will be followed by a statement from the Prime Minister on Covid-19, expected at approx. 3.30pm.

The main business for the day will be approval of Statutory Instruments on Road Traffic and Exiting the European Union.

Tuesday

MPs will meet from 11.30am on Tuesday.

Proceedings will start with questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.

This will be followed by an urgent question from Clive Betts MP on whether leaseholders are expected to pay for the removal of dangerous cladding from their homes.

The main business will be on consideration of House of Lords amendments to the Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Bill.

Wednesday

Proceedings will begin from 11.30am on Wednesday, starting with questions to the Minister for Women and Equalities.

This will be followed by Prime Minister's Questions.

Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer, will make a statement on the 2020 Spending Review and the Office for Budget Responsibility’s Latest Economic and Fiscal Forecast.

MPs will hold a general debate on the UK-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Thursday

The House will sit from 9.30am on Thursday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. 

This will be followed by questions to Church Commissioners, House of Commons Commission, Parliamentary Works Sponsor Body, Public Accounts Commission and Speaker’s Committee on the Electoral Commission. 

Followed by Business Questions to the Leader of the House of Commons.

There will be two statements:

  1. Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on Covid-19 update
  2. Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs on Development Update 

Main business will start with a Backbench Business debate on a motion relating to the final report by the Climate Assembly UK on the path to Net-zero.

MPs will also hold a Backbench Business debate a motion relating to the Work and Pensions Select Committee report on the Department for Work and Pensions response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Friday

The House will not sit on Friday.
