Lord Kilclooney’s tweet

The Lord Speaker, Lord Fowler, made this statement in response to a tweet by Lord Kilclooney posted on Monday 9 November which referred to Vice-President Elect Kamala Harris as ‘the Indian’:
“Lord Kilclooney should retract and apologise. This is an offensive way to refer to anyone, let alone a woman who has just made history. The comment is entirely unacceptable and has no place in British politics. I could not be clearer.”
At its meeting on Tuesday 10 November, the House of Lords Commission agreed to unreservedly associate itself with the Lord Speaker’s statement.
