Coming up in the Commons: 12-16 October 2020

We’ve put together a list of highlights to keep you on top of the legislation, debates and questions coming up this week that you need to know about.

Monday

On Monday proceedings will begin at 2.30pm.

There will be questions to the Secretary of State for Education (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

At 3.30pm the Prime Minsiter will make a statement giving an update on Covid-19.

The main business will be the consideration of Lords amendments to the Agriculture Bill.

Tuesday

Tuesday’s highlights include questions to Questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

There will be one urgent question from Anneliese Dodds to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on economic support available to individuals and businesses in areas of the country subject to additional public health restrictions.

MPs will then debate regulations relating to Covid-19, including a motion to 'Approve the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No.2) (England) (Amendment) (No.5) Regulations 2020'.

The House will then debate the remaining stages of the Fisheries Bill [Lords].

Following a business statement from the Leader of the House on Monday 12 October, the general debate on Covid-19 that was scheduled for Tuesday will no longer take place.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, business includes Prime Minister's Questions and Questions to the Minister for Wales (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

After PMQs, there will be Opposition day debates on:

  • Covid-19 economic support package
  • Local contact tracing.

Thursday

On Thursday there will be questions to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

There will also be a statement from Health Secretary Matt Hancock providing a Covid-19 update.

Following this, there will be consideration in committee and remaining stages of the Covert Human Intelligence Sources (Criminal Conduct) Bill.

Friday

The House will be sitting this Friday. The main business will be Private Members Bills.
