Coming up in the Commons: 19-23 October 2020

We’ve put together a list of highlights to keep you on top of the legislation, debates and questions coming up this week that you need to know about.

Monday

On Monday proceedings will begin at 2.30pm.

There will be questions to the Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

There will be two statements:

  • Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Michael Gove - EU Exit: Update on negotiations and the work of the Joint Committee
  • Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock - Covid-19 update

The main business will be the consideration of the Lords amendments to the Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination (EU Withdrawal) Bill.

Tuesday

Tuesday’s highlights include questions to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

The main business will be the committee and remaining stages of the Non-Domestic Rating (Lists) (No. 2) Bill 2019-21.

There will also be a Backbench Business debate on Black History Month.

The Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, will make a statement on Covid-19 at 7pm.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, business includes Prime Minister's Questions and Questions to the Minister for Women and Equalities (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

After PMQs, a statement from Health Minister, Edward Argar, on Covid-19 (South Yorkshire).

Followed by Opposition day debates on:

  • Fair economic support for areas facing additional covid-19 restrictions
  • Free school meals

Thursday

On Thursday there will be questions to the Secretary of State for Transport (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance).

There will be two statements:

  • Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, giving an economy update.
  • Minister for Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, giving an update on the disparate impact of covid-19

Main business will be a general debate on Covid-19.

Friday

The House will be sitting this Friday. The main business will be Private Members Bills.
