Wondering what’s happening in the Chamber this week? We’ve put together a list of highlights to keep you on top of the legislation, debates and questions you need to know about.
Below is the business of the House for this week as it currently stands – all business is subject to change.
Monday
The House will sit from 2.30pm on Monday. There will be questions to Secretary of State for Defence (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance). The main business will be day three of the committee stage of the United Kingdom Internal Market Bill, which is being considered in a Committee of the whole House. MPs will also consider a number of statutory instruments laid before the House.
Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, will make a statement on Covid-19.
Tuesday
Tuesday’s highlights include questions to the Secretary of State for Justice (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance), which will be followed by a Ten Minute Rule Motion on Planning (Proper Maintenance of Land) from Jonathan Gullis MP. The House will then debate day four of the committee stage of the United Kingdom Internal Market Bill, which is being considered in a Committee of the whole House.
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, will make a statement on Covid-19.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, business includes Prime Minister's Questions and questions to the Minister for Women and Equalities (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance). This will be followed by a Ten Minute Rule Motion on Pets (Microchips) from James Daly MP and the second reading of the Overseas Operations (Service Personnel and Veterans) Bill.
Tim Farron will ask an urgent question about the eviction moratorium.
Michael Gove is to make a statement on preparations for the end of the transition period.
Thursday
On Thursday there will be questions to the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and to the Attorney General (for a complete list of questions see the Order of Business on the day or the Question Book in advance). There will also be three backbench business debates (for more information see the Order of Business on the day).
There will be an urgent question from Crispin Blunt to ask the Minister for Women and Equalities if she will make a statement on the Government's response to the Gender Recognition Act 2004 outlined in the Government Equalities Office Update of September 22.
There will also be two statements:
- Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak - Economy update
- Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, on the UK Government's response to presidential elections in Belarus.
Friday
This Friday the House will be sitting, with debates on Private Members’ Bills (for more information see the Order of Business on the day or the list of Bills before the House).
