The House of Lords debated the use of Body Mass Index, alcohol harm, COVID-19-related poverty and declaring a biodiversity emergency, on Thursday 22 April.

Four short debates ('Questions for Short Debate') take place one Thursday each month in Grand Committee, work away from the main chamber.

Thursday 22 April

Catch up on each debate on Parliament TV  and read the transcripts in Lords Hansard.

Members

Over 50 speakers took part in the debates, bringing a wide range of experience and professional knowledge to the subjects under discussion.

Debates are an opportunity for members to discuss important current issues and draw the government’s attention to concerns. At the end of each debate, a government minister or spokesperson will respond to the issues raised.

Library briefings

The House of Lords Library produced briefings for each of the debates on the Body Mass Index, alcohol harm, COVID-19-related evictions and biodiversity emergency.
