The House of Lords paid tributes to His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on Monday 12 April.

Members paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh in the House of Lords chamber on Monday 12 April and agreed a Humble Address of condolence to Her Majesty The Queen.

The Lord Speaker Lord Fowler started proceedings following a minute’s silence.

The Leader of the House of Lords, Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Conservative), led the tributes. The leaders of the other parties and groups followed: Baroness Smith of Basildon (Labour), Lord Newby (Liberal Democrat), Lord Judge (Crossbench) and the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Queen's fomer private secretary and many former military leaders, heads of the civil service, members who have worked at the top of the judiciary and as secretaries of state spoke to pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.
