Monday 18 January

The House will sit from 2.30pm. Proceedings will start with questions to the Secretary of State for Education. For a complete list of questions see the Order of Business and Call List on the day or use the Question Book to read questions in advance.

Following questions to the Education Secretary, there will be a statement from Kit Malthouse MP, Minister for Crime and Policing giving an update on the Police National Computer.

The main business of the day will begin with opposition day debates on:

  • Universal credit and working tax credit.
  • Access to remote education and the quality of free school meals.

Tuesday 19 January

Proceedings will begin at 11.30am with questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. For a complete list of questions see the Order of Business and Call List on the day or use the Question Book to read questions in advance.

Pete Wishart MP will ask an urgent question to the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on visa arrangements for UK musicians in the EU.  

Main business will begin with consideration of Lord's amendments to the Trade Bill.

This will be followed by consideration of Lord's amendments to the high speed rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill.

Wednesday 20 January

MPs will meet at 11.30am, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. For a complete list of questions see the Order of Business and Call List on the day or use the Question Book to read questions in advance.

Prime Minister's Questions will follow.

There will be an urgent question from David LammyMP, to ask the Secretary of State for Justice if he will make a statement on the backlog of serious criminal cases in the justice system. 

Main business will begin with the remaining stages of the National Security and Investment Bill.

Thursday 21 January

The House will sit from 9.30am on Thursday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. This will be followed by questions to Church Commissioners, House of Commons Commission, Parliamentary Works Sponsor Body, Public Accounts Commission and Speaker’s Committee on the Electoral Commission.

Following this, MPs will ask Business Questions to the Leader of the House.

There will be Backbench Business debates on:

  • Errors in payments made to victims of the Equitable Life scandal
  • Operation of the Child Maintenance Service during the covid-19 outbreak

Friday 22 January

The House will not be sitting.

On Wednesday 13 January 2021, The House of Commons agreed a motion put forward by the Leader of the House, Rt Hon Jacob Rees Mogg MP, to temporarily suspend sittings in Westminster Hall and sitting Fridays.
