Highlights from the week in the House of Lords include:

  • members put forward targets to reduce plastic packaging, improve air quality and boost biodiversity as #HouseofLords continues detailed examination of the Environment Bill
  • the House debated social care in the UK and drew government attention to issues including low pay for staff, impact of #COVID19 and young carers
  • members of the #HouseofLords proposed changes to #DormantAssetsBill to create independent community funds and to consult more charity and community voices.

Thursday 24 June

Ministerial questions

The House of Lords asked Lord Frost, the Minister of State at the Cabinet Office, three questions on:

  1. The Ireland/Northern Ireland Protocol
  2. The current state of UK/EU negotiations
  3. The UK's delegation to the Civil Society Forum

Regulations 

The House considered nationality, immigration and asylum regulations, including a motion to regret from Lord Paddick (Liberal Democrat).

Statement 

Members questioned the government on the Free Trade Negotiations with Australia statement.
