UK Parliament celebrates Women’s History Month

UK Parliament is celebrating Women’s History Month, which runs from 1 March to 31 March.
As with previous History Months, UK Parliament has put together a range of virtual events for parliamentary colleagues as well as members of the public.
Throughout the month, female MPs will be sharing their stories across Parliament’s social media channels.
On Thursday 11 March, MPs will be participating in a general debate in the Commons Chamber to mark International Women’s Day.
Online events for the public
For the public, a series of online learning events has been put together.
This includes a session with the Parliamentary Archives on Nancy Astor’s Intoxicating Liquor Act (Sale to Persons Under Eighteen) 1923 – the first Private Member’s Bill to be passed by a female MP, and a live International Women’s Day Lecture in collaboration with the Works of Art team.
UK Parliament has also produced a brand new free children’s book for Women’s History Month which contains six stories of influential women who have helped to change UK laws.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group “Women in Parliament” is additionally hosting a series of events to celebrate International Women’s Day.
