Lords debates cost to leaseholders of fire safety work

On Thursday 4 November the House of Lords debated the situation of leaseholders who are facing bills for fire and building safety remedial work and the need for safe, green and affordable housing.

Housing safety
This debate on safe housing and the costs facing leaseholders is another way for the Lords to raise its concerns with the government on this issue.
The Lords made changes to the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Bill to increase financial protections for tenants and extend the removal of ground rent to more leaseholders.
Members have also used daily and urgent questions to press the government on fire safety, including:
- Lords questions government on homeowner cladding costs
- Lords questions government on building fire safety.
