The House of Lords will debate the key purpose and principles (second reading) of the Assisted Dying Bill.

Monday 18 October
The House of Lords sat from 2.30pm, beginning with a minute's silence. Following questions, members paid tribute to Sir David Amess.
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- creating a Minister for Intergovernmental Relations
- funding for the new HIV Action Plan
- support for victims of the building safety scandal
- UK's application to Horizon Europe.
Tuesday 19 October
Questions
Members questioned the government on:
- telephone and in-person GP appointments
- Drug prevention, treatment and recovery
- poverty in early childhood
- discussions with the French government since the announcement of AUKUS.
Legislation
Members debated the main principles of the Compensation (London Capital & Finance plc and Fraud Compensation Fund) Bill and examined the bill at all remaining stages.
Members also started further examination (report stage) of the Telecommunications (Security) Bill.
Members debated the Rating (Coronavirus) and Directors Disqualification (Dissolved Companies) Bill ahead of its second reading.
Debates
The Lords debated government policy on Iran.
Regulations
Members considered regulations on organic production, water and sewerage undertakers, airport slot allocation and heavy commercial vehicles in Kent.
Wednesday 20 October
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- cooperation between gambling operators and the Gambling Commission
- recommendations from the Property Agents Working Group report
- when the Prime Minister will next meet with the devolved governments
- energy shortages: protecting the most vulnurable
Legislation
The House of Lords began line by line examination of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
Debates
Members debated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America and the Science and Technology Committee report: ‘Ageing: Science, Technology and Healthy Living’.
Thursday 21 October
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- determining where cotton used in UK goods is cultivated
- support for people at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes
- what environmental considerations influence government trade policy
- the takeover of UK companies by private equity firms.
Questions to Lord Frost, Minister of State in the Cabinet Office, followed on:
- the impact of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland on trade within Ireland
- discussions with the Vice President of the European Commission following the publication of the EU’s proposals regarding the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland
- diplomatic consequences for trade negotiations of the government's decision to renegotiate the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland.
Legislation
The Lords continued further examination (report stage) of the Skills and Post-16 Education Bill.
Debates
Members debated enhancing the integrity of the electoral processes.
