Here is a roundup of what’s coming up in the House of Commons Chamber.

Monday 28 March 

The House will sit from 2.30pm on Monday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace. 

The main business will be:

Tuesday 29 March 

The House will sit at 11.30am on Tuesday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng. 

The main business will be: 

  • Debate on a motion to approve the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Delay in Expiry: Inquests, Courts and Tribunals, and Statutory Sick Pay) (England and Wales and Northern Ireland) Regulations 2022 and a motion under the Coronavirus Act 2020 relating to the renewal of temporary provisions. 
  • Opposition Day debate (subject to be announced).

Wednesday 30 March 

Proceedings will begin from 11.30am on Wednesday, starting with questions to the Women and Equalities Minister, Elizabeth Truss. 

Prime Minister’s Questions will take place at 12 noon.  

The main business will be a consideration of Lords amendments to the Health and Care Bill.

Thursday 31 March  

The House will sit from 9.30am on Thursday, starting with questions to the Cabinet Office. 

The Leader of the House will also provide the weekly Business Statement. 

The main business will be a consideration of Lords amendments, if necessary, followed by two Backbench Business debates: 

  • General debate on the impact of long covid on the UK workforce 
  • Debate on matters to be raised before the forthcoming Adjournment

At the conclusion of business on Thursday 31 March, the House will rise for Easter recess. 

 

Friday 1 April 

The House of Commons will be in recess and will next sit on Tuesday 19 April. 

 

 

The business for 28 March - 1 April was announced in the Commons Chamber by the Leader of the House of Commons, Mark Spencer MP, on Thursday 24 March 2022. Business is subject to change throughout the week. 

The Leader also confirmed that the State Opening of Parliament will take place on Tuesday 10 May 2022.
