Highlights of what happened from 6-9 June in the House of Lords:
Questions
Members questioned government on the causes of food insecurity in England, specialist support for domestic abuse victims, delays experienced by patients trying to access their GP and support for male victims of crime.
Bills
The House of Lords debated the key purpose of the Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Bill at second reading and began a line by line examination of the Schools Bill at committee stage.
Debates
Members debated the cost of living and plans for a new constitutional relationship for the four nations of the UK.

Questions
Members pressed the government for 40 minutes on:
- supporting access to electric vehicles
- schools implementing biometric technologies
- the Church of England’s case for a child poverty strategy
- the new international development strategy.
Legislation
Members debated the key principles and main purpose of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill at second reading.

Tuesday 7 June
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- an international conference on Ukraine
- causes of food insecurity in England
- delays to GP access
- number of Ukrainian asylum seekers and refugees who have arrived in the UK.
Legislation
Members debated the main purpose of the Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Bill at second reading.
Regulations
The House debated regulations relating to immigration and restrictions on employment and residential accommodation.
Wednesday 8 June
Questions
Members questioned the government on:
- the Prime Minister's meeting with the devolved governments
- specialist support for domestic abuse victims
- support for farmers
- the Committee on Standards in Public Life report: Upholding Standards in Public Life.
Legislation
Members began line by line check of the Schools Bill at the first of five days of committee stage.
Thursday 9 June
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- workload in the Probation Services and CAFCASS
- support for male victims of crime
- Green Homes Grant and national strategy for retrofitting buildings
- Ryanair: Afrikaans language test.
Debates
The House debated the following topics:
- the UK strengthening its relationships with the EU, other European Allies and its commitment to NATO in light of the conflict in Ukraine
- transport delays at airports and ferry ports
- impact of the increasing cost of living on the level of economic resilience in the social capital of the UK.
Short Debates
In Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, members debated the following topics:
- a commission to consider options for a new constitutional relationship for the four nations of the UK
- health of trees in England, and progress made towards developing a type of ash that is resistant to ash dieback
- NHS costs associated with managing Respiratory Syncytial Virus infections
- access to health and care services for people with neurological conditions.
Urgent question repeat
The Lords questioned government proposals to override the Northern Ireland Protocol.
