Today an independent review of financial management in the House of Commons Administration has been published.

Alongside this, the Commons Executive Board has also published its own Management Response, agreed by the House of Commons Commission.

Lord Morse was commissioned to carry out this review in November 2021 to provide an independent report to the Director General (Operations) into the effectiveness of value for money and financial management in the House of Commons Administration.

The review set out to look at how the House of Commons is managing its finances, contracts and projects to ensure it is delivering good value for public money.

The result is a series of 43 recommendations, grouped around eight priority areas, designed to assist the House Service in improving its financial management.

At its meeting on 14 November, the House of Commons Commission agreed the Management Response set out by the Commons Executive Board, accepting Lord Morse’s recommendations in full.
