Here is an overview of debates scheduled in the Commons Chamber over the coming week. Please note, this business was announced in the Commons Chamber by the Leader of the House of Commons, Penny Mordaunt MP, on Thursday 13 October. It is possible that changes will be made to the schedule of business throughout the week. This page will be updated should changes be made.

Monday 17 October

The House sits at 2.30pm, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Simon Clarke. This is followed by an Urgent question from Keir Starmer, to ask the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on the replacement of the Chancellor of the Exchequer during the current economic situation.

This is followed by an Economic Update from the Chancelor of the Exchequer.

The main business will be an allocation of time motion, followed by the remaining stages of the Energy Prices Bill.

Tuesday 18 October

Proceedings start at 11.30am on Tuesday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Justice, Brandon Lewis. This is followed by an Urgent question from Alicia Kearns MP, To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs if he will make a statement on what representations he has made to the Chinese Communist Party following the attack on Hong Kong protestors at the Chinese Consulate in Manchester.

The main business will be the remaining stages of the Public Order Bill, followed by consideration of a motion relating to the Committee on Standards reports into the code of conduct and its recommendation relating to appeals and a procedural protocol in the House’s conduct system.

Wednesday 19 October

The House will sit at 11.30am on Wednesday, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Wales, Sir Robert Buckland.

Prime Minister’s questions will take place at 12 noon. The main business will be an Opposition Day debate (subject to be announced).

Thursday 20 October

The House will sit from 9.30am, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Michelle Donelan.

The main business will be two Backbench Business debates on:

  • Debate on a motion on NHS dentistry
  • General debate on investing in the future of Motor Neurone Disease

Friday 21 October

The House will sit from 9.30am on Friday, and there will be Private Members’ Bills.
