Highlights of what happened this week:
Questions
Questions this week included restoring the pension rights of LGBT veterans, abolishing or reforming leasehold as a housing tenure, the Prime Minister meeting the TUC and sending asylum seekers to Rwanda.
Debates
Members debated the current level of violent crime, burglaries and gang activity, and the impact of the cost of living on public wellbeing.

Questions

- pension rights of LGBT veterans
- people receiving out of work benefits
- abolishing or reforming leasehold as a housing tenure.

Tuesday 18 October
Questions
The House of Lords questioned government on:
- nitrate-free bacon and ham
- supporting democratic culture
- meeting with NATO to discuss conflict in Ukraine
- support for women going through the menopause.
Urgent question repeat
The Lords questioned a government statement on the replacement of the Chancellor of the Exchequer during the current economic situation.
Later, members raised concerns about the attack on Hong Kong protestors at the Chinese Consulate in Manchester.
Legislation
The House made further changes to the Social Housing (Regulation) Bill at report stage.
Regulations
Members considered the Parole Board Rules with a motion to regret.
In Grand Committee, members debated the following orders and regulations:
- digital government information
- public sector bodies (websites)
- Armed Forces (covenant)
- Armed Forces (service court)
- crime (international co-operation)
- sanctions (damages cap).
Wednesday 19 October
Questions
Members questioned the government for 40 minutes on:
- sending asylum seekers to Rwanda
- an Older Persons Commissioner for England
- the Prime Minister meeting the TUC
- misconduct in the Metropolitan Police.
Statement
The House of Lords pressed the government on its economic update.
Legislation
Members 'tidied up' the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill at third reading and debated the key principles of the Energy Prices Bill at second reading.
Regulations
Members debated the statement of changes in immigration rules with a motion to regret.
Thursday 20 October
Questions
Members of the House of Lords quizzed the government on:
- support for arts and community spaces with rising energy costs
- unemployment figures and the labour market
- removing the word ‘women’ from the title of the Minister for Equalities
- warm hubs in England.
