Lords debates relationship between the UK and India

On Thursday 19 January, members of the House of Lords debated the importance of the relationship between the United Kingdom and India and the case for strengthening future collaboration.

Baroness Verma (Conservative), Chair of the International Advisory Board, Institute of Directors (India), put forward the debate.

Baroness Foster of Aghadrumsee (Non-affiliated) and The Earl of Minto (Conservative), made their maiden speeches in the House of Lords during this debate.
Business was briefly paused (adjourned) at the start of the debate for Lord Soley to make a valedictory speech to members of House.
Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon (Conservative), Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, responded on behalf of the government.
