Here is an overview of debates scheduled in the Commons Chamber over the coming week. Please note, this business was announced in the Commons Chamber by the Leader of the House of Commons, Penny Mordaunt MP, on Thursday 13 July. Monday 17 July 

The House will sit at 2.30pm, starting with questions to the Secretary of State for Education, Gillian Keegan 

The main business will be:

Tuesday 18 July 

The House will sit at 11.30am with questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, James Cleverly 

 The main business will be: 

  • If necessary, Consideration of Lords Message to the Illegal Migration Bill 
  • Consideration of Lords amendments to the Northern Ireland and Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill 
  • Motions to approve the draft Environmental Civil Sanctions (England) (Amendment) Order 2023 and the Draft Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2023. 
  • If necessary, consideration of Lords Message.

Wednesday 19 July 

Proceedings will start at 11.30am on Wednesday with questions to the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Chloe Smith 

 Prime Minister’s Questions will take place at 12 midday. The main business will be:

  • If Necessary, Consideration of Lords Message to the Illegal Migration Bill 
  • Motion to approve the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2023 (Si, 2023, No. 713) 
  • Debate on the Eighth Report of the Committee on Standards, Session 2022–23, HC 228, on All-Party Parliamentary Groups. 
  • If necessary, consideration of Lords Message

Thursday 20 July 

The House will sit at 9.30am with questions to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lucy Frazer. Followed by questions to the Commissions.  

The main business will be the Sir David Amess summer Adjournment debate, (the subject of this debate was determined by the Backbench Business Committee).

The House will rise for the summer recess at the conclusion of business on Thursday 20 July and will return on Monday 4 September.
