On Thursday 12 December, the House of Lords discussed care for patients with allergies, the Imprisonment for Public Protection prison population, supply and quality of homes, and humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine in four short debates.

Lords Thursday debates

One Thursday each month, the House of Lords holds four short debates (one hour each) in Grand Committee. On Thursday 12 December from 1pm, members debated the following subjects: 

Care for patients with allergies

Members discussed ensuring patients with allergies receive timely and comprehensive care from the NHS, in a debate put forward byBaroness Ramsey of Wall Heath (Labour). 

Imprisonment for Public Protection

Members considered reducing the size of the Imprisonment for Public Protection prison population following the publication of the HMPPS Annual Report on the IPP Sentence, in a debate put forward by Baroness Burt of Solihull (Liberal Democrat). 

Supply and quality of homes

Members debated increasing the supply and improving the quality of the homes people want, in the places they want to live, whilst ensuring that development does not adversely affect existing communities, in a debate put forward by Lord Wolfson of Aspley Guise (Conservative).

Humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine

Members discussed plans for enhanced humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine this winter, and in particular for mental health, energy and housing provision, in a debate put forward by Baroness Tyler of Enfield (Liberal Democrats).
