Government's China policy debated by Lords

On Thursday 19 December, members of the House of Lords will debate the government policy towards China especially in relation to human rights and security issues arising from China’s actions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, and the South China Sea, and against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang.
Debate
Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench), chair of the Joint Committee on Human Rights and vice chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Hong Kong, will put forward the debate.
This is a general debate. During debates, members put their experience to good use to discuss current issues and draw the government's attention to concerns.

Baroness Chapman of Darlington (Labour), Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, will respond on behalf of the government.
