Government policy towards China discussed in the Lords

On Thursday 19 December, members of the House of Lords debated the government policy towards China, especially in relation to human rights and security issues arising from Chinese actions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, and the South China Sea, and against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang.

Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench), chair of the Joint Committee on Human Rights and vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Hong Kong, put forward the debate.
