Arbitration Bill under spotlight in Lords debate

Members of the House of Lords discussed the key objectives of the Arbitration Bill at its second reading on Tuesday 30 July.

The Arbitration Bill aims to amend the Arbitration Act 1996, the principal legislation governing arbitrations in England and Wales and in Northern Ireland.

Debate on the draft law

During second reading, members discuss the main topics in the bill and draw attention to specific concerns or areas where they think amendments (changes) are needed.

Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede (Labour), Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, opened the debate and responded on behalf of the government.
