What's on in the Lords 22-26 July

This week members return to the chamber to quiz the government on Northern Ireland dentistry, abandoning further stages of HS2, Ministry of Defence spending, water company finances and increasing confidence in government.
Debates
The House continues debating the King's Speech this week, with topics including economic growth, infrastructure and employment, constitution and devolution, justice and home affairs, and foreign affairs and defence.
Committees
Members are expected to debate Select Committee reports in the main chamber on Friday.

- local council spending.
Debates
The debate on the King's speech continues with topics including economic growth, infrastructure and employment.
Sir Patrick Vallance KCB, now Lord Vallance of Balham, Minister of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, will make his maiden speech.
Tuesday
From 2.30pm
Questions
The House will question the government on:
- antimicrobial resistance
- impact of abandoning futher stages of HS2
- England's water companies
- fourth question to be determined.
Debates
The debate on the King's speech continues with members discussing the constitution and devolution.
Richard Hermer KC, now Lord Hermer, the new Attorney General, is expected to make his maiden speech.
Wednesday

Questions
Members press the government on:
- child mental health and school attendance
- the European Investment Bank
- the future of the Household Support Fund
- fourth question to be determined.
Debates
The debate on the King's speech moves onto topics including justice and home affairs.
Thursday

Questions
Members press the government on:
- Ministry of Defence programmes
- improving confidence in government
- fundamental rights and the rule of law
- fourth question to be determined.
Debates
The debate on the King's speech concludes. The topics up for debate include foreign affairs and defence.
Friday
