Lords concludes detailed check of Data (Use and Access) Bill

Members of the House of Lords concluded their line by line check of the Data (Use and Access) Bill in committee stage on Wednesday 18 December.
The aim of the Data (Use and Access) Bill is to harness the power of data for economic growth, support a modern digital government, and improve people’s lives.
Committee stage
Committee stage is a thorough examination of the individual parts (clauses) of the bill.
Starting from the front of the bill, members work through the clauses in order, considering changes (amendments) to the wording or proposals for new clauses.
Proposed changes

- code of practice on children and AI
- national security and data privacy risks
- compliance of AI with UK copyright law.
