Data (Use and Access) Bill faces first checks in Lords

Members of the House of Lords begin their line by line check of the Data (Use and Access) Bill on Tuesday 3 December.
The aim of the Data (Use and Access) Bill is to harness the power of data for economic growth, support a modern digital government, and improve people’s lives.
Committee stage
Committee stage, the first chance for line by line examination of the bill, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 3 December.
Starting from the front of the bill, members work through the clauses in order, considering changes (amendments) to the wording or proposals for new clauses.
Proposed changes
Members speaking at committee stage have put forward amendments to the bill on subjects including:
- cyber resilience
- accountability of digital verification services
- supporting digital inclusion.
