Lords completes examination of Crown Estate Bill
19 November 2024
The Crown Estate Bill had its third reading, a chance for members to make sure the eventual law is effective, workable and without loopholes, on Monday 18 November.
The Crown Estate Bill aims to widen the borrowing and investment powers of the Crown Estate to speed up the development of offshore wind projects, in collaboration with Great British Energy, and to deliver long-term financial returns to the taxpayer.
Third reading
Third reading is the chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill, making small changes to ensure it is effective.
No amendments (changes) were put forward ahead of third reading. Instead, members discussed the progress of the bill at the conclusion of its stages through the House of Lords.
