Lords to debate politicisation of the Civil Service

On Thursday 28 November, members of the House of Lords will debate the case against politicisation of the Civil Service.

Debate

Lord Butler of Brockwell (Crossbench), former Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, will put forward the debate. 

This is a general debate. During debates, members put their experience to good use to discuss current issues and draw the government's attention to concerns.

  • Baroness Finn (Conservative), Shadow Minister in the Cabinet Office and member of the Committee on Standards in Public Life
  • Baroness May of Maidenhead (Conservative), former prime minister and Minister for the Civil Service
  • Lord Turnbull (Crossbench), former Secretary of the Cabinet and Permanent Secretary to HM Treasury
  • Baroness Tyler of Enfield (Liberal Democrats), former board member, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Baroness Twycross (Labour), Government Whip, will respond on behalf of the government.
