Lords 'tidies up' rail services bill

Members of the House of Lords 'tidied up' the Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill at third reading on Wednesday 13 November.
The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill will nationalise passenger railway franchises through public sector companies when existing contracts with private sector operators come to an end.
Third reading
Third reading is the chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill, making small changes to ensure it is effective.
No amendments (changes) were put forward ahead of third reading. Instead, members discussed the progress of the bill at the conclusion of its stages through the House of Lords.
