Lords concludes examination of Water (Special Measures) Bill

The Water (Special Measures) Bill had its third reading in the Lords, a chance for members to make sure the eventual law is effective, workable and without loopholes, on Tuesday 26 November.

The Water (Special Measures) Bill seeks to strengthen the power of water industry regulators and put failing water companies under special measures.

Third reading

Third reading is a chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill and make small changes to ensure it is effective.    

No amendments (changes) were put forward ahead of third reading. Members discussed the passage of the bill at the conclusion of its Lords stages.
