Railway services bill completes final stage

The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill returned to the House of Lords for consideration of Commons amendments in ‘ping pong’, on Wednesday 20 November.
The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill will nationalise passenger railway franchises through public sector companies when existing contracts with private sector operators come to an end.
Consideration of amendments
The bill was considered by the House of Lords between 4 September and 13 November 2024 before returning to the House of Commons in a process known as parliamentary 'ping pong'.
On Wednesday 20 November, members of the Lords considered changes made by MPs in the House of Commons.
The was one division (vote) on a Lords amendment, which was not agreed to.
