Aims of the Bill
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and International Committee of the Red Cross (Status) Bill [HL] is a government bill that would change the status of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) so the government could treat them in a similar way to international organisations of which the UK is a member. This would mean that the government may confer privileges and immunities on the organisations and certain personnel through an Order in Council. Before an Order in Council is made, the proposed order would be subject to the draft affirmative procedure in Parliament.
