Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development, speaks on the humanitarian situation in Gaza with the International Affairs Committee before answering further questions on aid under pressure. Questions include the situation regarding access via the border crossing points. Listen from 2.30pm.

This is the first evidence session in the Committee’s new inquiry which will assess the impact of the global economic downturn on support for development.

The evidence session will examine the outcomes of the Financing for Development Conference which was held in Doha, Qatar in December 2008 with the objective of reviewing the implementation of the 2002 Monterrey Consensus which sought to mobilise and increase the effective use of financial resources as part of the global partnership for development.
