Bank chiefs appear before Committee inquiry

The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee, which is currently conducting an inquiry into banking supervision and regulation, hears evidence from the Chief Executives of Lloyds and Barclays and the Group Finance Director of HSBC. The evidence session takes place in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords from 3.35 pm

In a second session at 4.15pm they will also hear evidence from the Chief Executives of Nationwide and Norwich and Peterborough building societies.
The evidence sessions will see John Varley, Chief Executive of Barclays, Eric Daniels, Chief Executive of Lloyds and Douglas Flint, Group Finance Director of HSBC, asked about the current banking and financial crises and the role regulation played in that crisis, as well as how the banks should move forward.
Graham Beale and Matthew Bullock, respectively Chief Executives of Nationwide and Norwich and Peterborough building societies, will be asked for how the crisis has affected the mutual sector.
