The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee takes evidence from Lord Myners, Financial Services Secretary to the Treasury, and John Kingman, Chief Executive of UK Financial Investments Ltd, as part of their ongoing inquiry into banking supervision and regulation. The evidence sessions start at 3.35pm in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.

Lord Myners will be asked for his views on Lord Turner’s recent review of financial regulation, whether there was adequate financial supervision before the banking crises and whether taxpayers would have been better off had Lloyds not merged with HBOS.

In the second session at 4.15pm, John Kingman of UKFI, who will give evidence with the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer, Sam Woods, will be asked about whether UKFI’s involvement in a number of banks damages the prospects of those banks’ competitors, whether UKFI has adequate resources and whether the make up of UKFI’s Board is sufficiently diverse.
