The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Policy questions Government Minister Lord Malloch-Brown on the EU’s response to the threat posed by piracy, particularly off the East Coast of Africa. The evidence session will be held at 10am in Committee Room 2A of the House of Lords.

Lord Malloch-Brown will asked about how well the EU coordinates its anti-piracy efforts with other organisations such as NATO and the Russian and Chinese navies. The Committee will also ask about the EU and UK’s policy in regard to paying ransoms to pirates who seize European vessels and for details on what is being done to prevent the pirates’ ability to launder money and access weapons.
