Lord Wallace of Saltaire opened a debate in the House of Lords on 26 March to discuss the role of offshore financial centres, under the British Crown, which can allow people to avoid or evade taxation

Members with experience in law and finance contributed to the discussion. Lord Myners, Financial Services Secretary at the Treasury, responded on behalf of the Government.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
