Discussion of the Saving Gateway Accounts Bill, and its general principles, took place in the House of Lords on 17 March.

The second reading saw contributions from Members with a wide range of expertise on business, finance and more.

The committee stage - line by line examination of the Bill - where every suggested change can be discussed and votes can happen, is scheduled for 2 April.

The Saving Gateway Accounts Bill establishes a Government-subsidised savings scheme for people of working age on low incomes and in receipt of specified benefits.
