Actors and Equity give evidence to Committee

The House of Lords Communications Committee, which is currently conducting an inquiry into the British film and television, hears evidence from some well known faces from television and film; actors Maggie Steed and Rory Kinnear. The evidence session starts at 11.00 am in Committee Room 4a of the House of Lords

The Committee will hear evidence from Christine Payne, General Secretary of actors union Equity, and Equity members:
- Maggie Steed: An experienced actor who has appeared in Lipstick on your Collar, Jam and Jerusalem and Lark Rise to Candleford and many other major television productions.
- Rory Kinnear: An television and film actor whose appearances include roles in James Bond: Quantum of Solace, and who played Denis Thatcher in Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley.
Drawing on their experience of the television and film industries, the witnesses will be asked about the prospects for the UK film and television industries. In particular, they will be invited to comment on prospects for employment and the production of original content in the UK, and how this might be supported and encouraged. They will also be asked about education and training, and the impact of the current tax incentives on the UK film industry.
