Members of the Lords with broad experience of local government, the Greater London Authority and more, contributed to a discussion on the Business Rate Supplements Bill, and its general principles, in the House of Lords on 22 April.

On 5 May the Bill proceeds to Grand Committee stage - line by line examination of the Bill outside the Lords Chamber - where every clause has to be agreed to and changes can be made.
The Bill empowers certain local authorities in England and Wales to levy a local supplement on the business rate to invest in that area.
