The President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, gave an address to MPs and Members of the Lords on Wednesday 1 April in the Robing Room, House of Lords.

Visits from Heads of State often include an address to Members of both Houses. The subject matter is not predetermined but may often include current global issues.

Felipe Calderon Hinojosa's address was the first such address to Parliament from a Head of State from Mexico.

Nicolas Sarkozy, Nelson Mandela, François Mitterand, Mikhail Gorbachev, Bill Clinton and the Dalai Lama are among those who have all given addresses to Members of both Houses.
