The following Private Notice Questions - urgent questions - were asked in the House of Lords Chamber after Oral Questions on 1 April.

Baroness Noakes: To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will explain the discrepancies between the account given by Sir Tom McKillop in his letter to the Treasury Select Committee and the account given so far given to Parliament about the role of ministers in approving the pension severance and retirement arrangements of Sir Fred Goodwin.

Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean: To ask the Chairman of Committees what are the implications for the House of Lords of the incident involving the use of CS gas by the police on the evening of 30 March 2009 on the parliamentary estate.

Private Notice Questions allow Members of the Lords to ask an urgent question in the House of Lords Chamber. Proceedings are limited to 10 minutes so contributions are expected to be short.
