Discussion of suggested changes to the Saving Gateway Accounts Bill took place during the second, and final, day of committee stage in the House of Lords on 21 April.

Suggested changes made by Members of the Lords covered issues such as the operation of the scheme, transfers and maturity payments.

During Grand Committee line by line examination of the Bill takes place - as per the committee stage of a Bill in the Lords Chamber. Every amendment suggested is discussed but voting does not take place.

Report stage - a further chance to change the Bill - is yet to be scheduled.

The Bill establishes a Government-subsidised savings scheme for people of working age on low incomes and in receipt of specified benefits.
