A debate on the contribution made by British Armed Forces to the defence of the UK took place in the House of Lords on 30 April

Lord King of Bridgewater introduced the discussion, with contributions from Members with personal experience of the military, expertise in diplomacy, a former Chief of Defence Staff and more.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
