Business Rate Supplements Bill: committee stage

Members of the Lords began the first day in Grand Committee examining the Business Rate Supplements Bill on 11 May
Suggested changes to the Bill covered issues including the power to levy the charge, the involvement of ratepayers and more.

On 13 May the Bill will continue to be examined in Grand Committee - every clause has to be agreed to and changes can be made.
The Bill empowers certain local authorities in England and Wales to levy a local supplement on the business rate to invest in that area.
