Cohabitation Bill: committee stage

A Private Members' Bill that would change cohabitation laws was examinaed line by line in the Lords during committee stage of the Cohabitation Bill on 30 April. Suggested changes to Lord Lester of Herne Hill's Bill were the subject of discussion.

Private Members' Bills can be introduced in the Lords by any Member who would like to change a law. There is no ballot in the Lords. To become law a Private Members' Bill must go through the same stages as a Government Bill.
