Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, gives evidence to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee as part of their 'Securing food supplies up to 2050: the challenges for the UK' inquiry. The evidence session begins at 2.30pm.

A wide range of issues have come up in this inquiry so the questions to the Secretary of State may include issues such as:

  • how the ministry regards UN FAO forecasts(to increase food production by 30 per cent by 2030 or to double it by 2050);
  • how/whether the uk might might deliver to those kind of targets in a sustainable manner while also cutting carbon emissions at the necessary rate and what that might mean for our production systems, research agenda and for consumers.
